The WRC Rollcaster is the classic of our lineup. Designed to be used for a multitude of species by anglers of all different skill levels. Our focus on this 5wt rod was to build a high quality rod without breaking the bank and we think we nailed it! It has a medium/fast action with a light tip feel.

This is my second Whuff rod, and I can’t overstate how much it’s improved my casting. In a world full of super-fast rods, this moderate-action 5-weight hits the sweet spot for me.
I live about 20 minutes from both the White River and Norfork River here in Arkansas. Both are tailwaters, so most of our fishing involves heavy nymphs under an indicator or streamers, depending on whether the dam is generating. Modern fast-action rods make it tough for an oldie like me to throw those weighted flies—the loops get too tight and I end up throwing closing loops far too often.
This rod throws those flies beautifully. It makes me feel 20 years younger and back at my peak. I will 100% recommend it—what a wonderful rod!
If you want to get noticed on the river, the roll caster is the perfect choice. Not the bright, kickass color scheme. The fact that you’re slinging bugs like a pro. Love the feel and balance. Thanks Dave and crew at The Whuffpack. A must have rod in your arsenal.
I absolutely love my roll coaster. Been able to get out a couple times and overall functions great!
Took it the Rollcaster on its first trip on the Taylor and Gunnison. It handled great. Had it rigged with a hopper - dropper. Caught lots of fish
Absolutely loving my Rollcaster!!
Second rod I’ve purchased from Whuff. Very fast delivery and the rod is beautiful. More importantly it performs great!!
Highly recommend.
Not only a great roll casting rod but perfect for throwing double nymphs under an indicator, or hopper dropper setups.
I tried one of your 5WT rods at the Ottawa Boat Show where we (Ottawa Fly Fishing Society)were teaching first timers how to cast. So impressed with the Rollcaster I had to have one.
Picked it up from my post box in Massena NY yesterday and headed up into the Adirondacks.
This rod performed just how I expected it too. To the point of out performing some of my more expensive rods. It roll casts with precision and I can see, when hatches start, it will land a dry fly very delicately.
A wonderful rod which I couldn't be more pleased with.
Thank you.
I do not believe you can buy a better medium action 5 weight fly rod at this price point, or any current production rod under $500- You may find comparable, but not better
